Global village

Has global village been realized? The term global village ,in spite of its seeming new, has a long story. It was coined by Wyndham lewis, in his book
The above-mentioned technologies have not facilitated true human communication. Even in the case that they have, this communication has not contributed much to people’s mutual understanding. In fact , in spite of what comes to mind at the first glance, this facilitated communication is much more a means of Diversity in itself, rather than Unity. Practically everybody has the opportunity to disseminate his personal views. As a result, people are exposed to an unlimited number of diverse opinions which results in more diversity.
Consequently, it can be said that these technologies have facilitated miscommunication rather than communication. Now it can be seen that everybody on internet propagates himself , but rarely anybody listens. This kind of propaganda ranges from commercial advertisements to publishing one’s most private photos and personal views. This process is also true to radio and TV programs. This propaganda does not actually lead to a true communication. Indeed , disappearance of connecting qualities of human beings is faster than the appearance of connection-facilitating technological advances.
In summary, global village has not been realized because of the narcissistic instinct of human beings. Everybody propagates his views or views compatible with his own benefits, and there are no true communications. This situation reminds us that famous quotation from a philosopher : “What we have called dialogs for ages are nothing but two-sided monologues”. This factor has frustrated the idea of a global village to such a degree that it is better to say village of globes instead of the term global village.
